In one of the latest posts on his website Walking Each Other Home, CLP alum Kevin Dieter, M.D., FAAHPM, HMDC reflects on his meaningful connection with The Good Listening Project, beginning as a poemee at the 2023 AAHPM Annual Assembly, then completing the Listener Poet training with Cohort 11 this summer, and recently volunteering as a poemee once again.
He shares the new poem written for him by Cohort 12 Certified Listener Poet Brook Wyers, offering a moving look at how this work continues to shape him. He writes:
“This poem and origin story perfectly captured what I shared with her, and as poems often do, it serves as a unique and impactful mirror to reflect in a gentle way the jumble of thoughts and feelings that we allow to run loose in our heads and hearts.
There is a teaching in the understanding of spiritual pain that reminds us that in doing deep work, the soul is shy and needs to be approached indirectly, often through the use of a third thing, such as a poem.”
