Certified Listener Poet,
Cohort 12 Fall 2025
Kira Preneta (she/they), Certified Listener Poet Alum from Cohort 12, brings a broad lineage of poets and writers to their life and work. For her, writing is an ongoing lesson in inhabiting Liminal Space similar to the work of mothering their four children. In NE Ohio where their family currently calls home, Kira finds solace walking in the beaver marsh and suburban-rural wilds of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. At their desk they dream of a future where everyone is cared for; where motherhood is valued as a map into an equitable future. Kira’s work of listening began around the kitchen table, as a child, in awe of her mother’s five sisters.
