Jo Linder

Jo Linder, MD recently retired after serving for more than a decade as Assistant Dean for Students/Director of  Student Affairs in Maine Medical Center’s Department of Medical Education. Dr. Linder is a long-standing  member and former Co-Chair of TUSM-MMC Program Admissions Sub-Committee. She held several leadership roles at MMC including Division of Community & Preventive Medicine Director, MMC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Committee member. She has been a member of the medical staff in the Department of  Emergency Medicine. 

 

Dr. Linder recently served on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Board of Directors (ACGME). Dr. Linder is Senior Director of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and served on the Finance and Audit Committee and Chair of COCERT for the American Board of Medical Specialties. She is a former President of Maine Medical Association and current President of Maine Medical Education Trust. She  served as alternate delegate (seated) at the American Medical Association House of Delegates representing the American College of Emergency Medicine for many years. Her publications and presentations include topics on professional career satisfaction and professional identity development.  

Prior to coming to Maine, Dr. Linder held medical staff positions in Emergency Medicine in California and Minnesota while serving in various leadership roles including: Associate Faculty at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis; Associate Dean of Administrative Affairs at the Charles Drew University of Medicine & Science in Los Angeles; Associate Director of the Center for Occupational Health at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena; and Assistant Chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University Medical Center of Fresno.  

Originally from Iowa, Dr. Linder earned BS and MD degrees from the University of Iowa, and completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco – Fresno campus. She is Board certified in Emergency Medicine. She holds faculty appointments at Tufts University School of Medicine: Associate Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine and Associate Professor, Department of Public Health & Community Medicine.
