Certified Listener Poet,
Cohort 11 Summer 2025
E. Tan is a researcher, educator, administrator, and multi-arts creative with a Ph.D. in Literature and an M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership. She has taught at Springfield College’s School of Human Services, online, and in Harvard’s Institute for English Language summer programs, while also co-leading a family company focused on plant-based vitamin ingredients and research.
Her projects span science, literature, spirituality, nature, travel, the arts, and the everyday, and she remains active in volunteer and community organizations with visions that reach from local to international concerns.
As a child and teenager, she wrote many poems. After decades away from poetry, she has returned to the page in new ways – most recently as a Listener Poet with The Good Listening Project (TGLP). When she first heard about TGLP, she immediately resonated with its emphasis on craft, service, and collaboration, and was drawn to how it fosters connections through listening for healthcare, healing, poetry, and artistic practices.
Based in New England with occasional stints in other countries, she enjoys the outdoors, nature journaling, pottery, painting, languages, spending time with family and friends, and tending to her many plants.
