Syllables of a Name Never Called: A Virtual Creative Writing Workshop for Those Impacted by Pregnancy Loss

On July 26, 2026 from 10am to Noon PT (1-3pm ET), Certified Listener Poet alum, Anne Marie Wells (Cohort 9) will be facilitating Syllables of a Name Never Called: A Virtual Creative Writing Workshop for Those Impacted by Pregnancy Loss. Registration is free with donations welcome.

About the Workshop

In conjunction with best practices learned through the Certificate in Social Emotional Arts program with The Arts & Healing Initiative, as well as the Writers of Canada Collective facilitator training, this creative writing workshop, inspired by Frederick Joseph's poem "Crying Together," utilizes this title poem as well as work from writers Lucille Clifton, Sharon Olds, Callista Buchen, and others to present several different writing prompts to support participants’ expressions of grief related to pregnancy loss in a supportive space. Participants may find the workshop to be a cathartic outlet, a means of processing grief, and a place to find community with others navigating similar experiences. Though this workshop is trauma-informed, it is not a trauma specific service.

Grief after pregnancy loss is often experienced by more than one person. You don't have to be the one who carried the pregnancy to participate in this workshop. Partners, parents, grandparents, in-laws, and loved ones of any kind are welcome.

No previous writing experience is necessary to participate in this workshop.
