Caregiver Haven

Care for the Caregivers

Build a Haven for Caregivers

Your donation will help continue Caregiver Haven, launched in 2025 – an initiative from The Good Listening Project offering free emotional support to informal caregivers through poetry, deep listening, and creative connection.

Across the U.S., over 50 million adults care for loved ones – aging parents, partners with chronic illness, children with disabilities, or those nearing the end of life. This unpaid labor often comes at great personal cost: stress, exhaustion, and isolation.

Caregiver Haven is our response.

This program provides:

  • One-on-one Listener Poet sessions – compassionate, private conversations that are transformed into personalized poems

  • Monthly “Poetry Corner for Caregivers” gatherings – welcoming virtual spaces for connection and creative reflection

  • A Caregiver Chronicles Anthology – honoring caregiver voices and stories through poetry

All services are offered at no cost to caregivers, thanks to generous donors and program sponsors.

The Impact

In our first year, we aim to support at least 150 caregivers across the country, including those:

  • Caring for loved ones with cancer, dementia, diabetes, or disability

  • Supporting aging relatives or family members in hospice

  • Balancing work, caregiving, and their own emotional well-being

By donating today, you’re helping create a space where caregivers feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

Why It Matters

Caregivers are the backbone of long-term care, providing over $600 billion in unpaid support each year – more than all out-of-pocket U.S. healthcare spending combined (AARP). Over 60% juggle caregiving and paid work, leading to chronic stress and burnout.

Caregiver Haven offers a creative sanctuary.
Here, poetry and listening are more than art – they’re tools for reflection, emotional release, and lasting affirmation. The poems serve as powerful works of art and lasting reminders of personal strength and connection.
